First thing you’ll need to do is create a Free Twitter Account
Creating a new Twitter Account is pretty simple and straightforward however there are quite a bit of steps you’ll have to take.
You’ll need your name, cell phone number (not a home phone number, it needs to be a phone that can receive text messages) and a password you create.

Create a New Twitter Account
Creating a new Twitter Account is pretty simple and straightforward however there are quite a few steps you’ll have to take. You’ll need your name, cell phone number (not a home phone number, it needs to be a phone that can receive text messages) and a password you create.
Will need the following:
- Name
- Cell Phone (NOT a home phone number)*
- Password
*If you don’t want to provide your cell phone number, you can use an email address instead. However, using a phone number gives you benefits such as a double layer of log-in, receive faster account recovery, and using Twitter via text messaging.
To sign up, go to Twitter.com
Click on Sign Up and fill in the required information.
*Don’t forget to write your password down*
Optional choice to allow Twitter to Tailor your feed based on your recent web activity.
Click on Advanced Options before completing the sign-up process for additional security options.
Here you can check/uncheck whether or not you would like to allow others to find you using your phone number and email address.
Read the Terms/Privacy Policy.
Now click Sign Up!
Enter your phone number (Twitter will never share your phone number) or skip.
Choose a username. This is what other users will see when they connect with you. You can always change your username later.
Click Next.
Twitter will ask you a few questions to help connect you with some accounts you might find interesting so click on “Let’s Go”.
Select all categories that interest you and click ‘Continue’
Twitter will provide account suggestions based on your selections. You can uncheck any accounts that don’t interest you and click continue.
Now you can add a photo by uploading a picture that is already saved on your computer, take a picture with an attached webcam or skip. For this course, we will skip.
Now Twitter will offer to use your email contacts to help you connect with current friends. For this course, we will skip this step for now.
Finally, you need to confirm the email address you used to sign up with Twitter. Go to the inbox for the email account you used and look for a new email from Twitter. This email should contain a link for you to click on to confirm your email address and finalize your new Twitter account.
